Zoe Updates: Feb 14 '99 March 7 '99 April 3 '99 May 16 '99 June 27'99
10/17/99 - To be introduced to Zoe... read on. For those of you that have already met her, Zoe is now full grown and weighing in at 11 and a half pounds.... full of energy and loves coming to visit Puffin... she makes a beeline for Puffin's kibble dish, and if that's not available, the toy box, Puffin shares like a champ.... no snips or growls.... and then they take off into a rolling ball of beige and black fur. Zoe will be a year old next month.
Zoe is Puffin's half sister, having the same dad (the toy poodle). Zoe was born November 6, 1998. She came to live with Puffin's next door neighbors (Billie and Ray and their two daughters) as a birthday present for Lauren who turned 12 on January 8, 1999 - that's when Zoe came to her new home (snowstorm and all), and came to meet Puffin (for pics of Zoe's next visit, click here ). Zoe has quite charmed everyone. Things have been going quite well - Zoe is exploring and adventuring as all puppies do, including climbing out of her crate, through the "top" holes. How, you might ask? Because her engineer dad put it together upside down.....so much for the instructions.
Zoe Update as of February 14, 1999 - she now weighs a whole 4 1/2 pounds, has had her second "well puppy visit" to the vet for shots and the like, and is keeping Lauren company plus taking good care of her while Lauren's broken leg is healing (quite well, thank you). She and Puffin now look for each other when they are out in their respective yards, and if the timing is right Zoe will get her mom (Billie) to bring her over to visit Puffin (Zoe goes out on a leash and Puffin is in her run). They go nose to nose through the fence and have a great time "talking" to each other.
Zoe Update as of March 7, 1999 - Zoe has completed all of her shots and weighs a little over four and half pounds. She came to visit this week - and everyone had a ripsnorting rolypoly good time again. Zoe's mom decided that it was ok for Puffin to share her chewsticks with Zoe - she hadn't before since Zoe is a vegetarian - but Zoe zeroed in on Puffin's BIG bone and seemed to enjoy it so much- plus she's teething - that everyone decided that a rwahide chew was really ok. Upon receiving a chewstick it never left her mouth. Zoe continued to charge around never missing a beat chewing her heart out on this thing with it hanging out of her mouth like a cigar - and it never fell out, either. We think she likes it.
Zoe Update as of April 3, 1999 - Zoe came to visit on Thursday and had a grand time playing with Puffin out in Puffin's run - and discovering astroturf. She thought that felt pretty good rolling around on it on her back... she and Puffin shared a tennis ball to play - and also a good cool drink (at the same time, same bowl). Zoe is now a little over six pounds and is 5 months old. Her latest picture is on the Cockapoo Gallery page. And she's a happy camper again since Lauren's cast is off and her leg is fine - so they can run and play like the "old" days.
Zoe Update as of
May 16, 1999 - Puffin and Zoe have had
more play dates together - sometimes in Puffin's run and sometimes in Zoe's
pool - that is, the fenced area around the pool, which is quite a chuck of
real estate. The cover is still on the pool - a beautiful inground job that
Lauren's folks had built last summer. The cover is one of those cleated jobs
that is secure to walk on, just in case someone were to. There is an overlap
over the side of about a foot, so that is solid ground, but then it's on the
water - and then it's sort of like walking on jelly. Zoe has gotten used to
it some, but Puffin still isn't quite sure what happens when she starts "bouncing".
But who needs a pool - these girls get turned loose and can run like the
wind. They lap around the inside of the fence like the Kentucky Derby - you
can practically hear the call of "down the stretch they come" as they whip
along the far side. Between the pool area being large and the dogs being
small - they think that they're in pooch paradise.
Zoe is
six months now, and weighs nine and a half pounds. She's going to become a
"real dog" this month and get her license - right after she gets spayed in
a week or so. She's teething and has gotten a good number of her big girl
teeth - enough for her expression to be changing from puppy to grownup, but
still cute as a button.
Zoe Update as of June 27, 1999 - Puffin and Zoe have wonderful times romping and running in Zoe's pool yard. They about the same size to look at although by weight Zoe's a bit bigger. Zoe came through her spaying earlier this month with no problems whatsoever (Puffin sent her a get well card) and is a full fledged dog now since she got her license. She had gotten to be very shaggy so got a haircut a few weeks ago - she and Puffin really look like sisters now.

| Zoe's still curious about Puffin's Astroturf... | As we share a drink and a smooch. | Here I am!! |
Coming home day, January 8, 1999:

|
|
| This is Lauren, Zoe's new buddy and mom. | Zoe had no hesitation in introducing herself to Puffin... | They soon became snuggle buddies | And kissing cousins |
|

|
|
| It didn't take long for Zoe to call Lauren her person... | or to find her way around a bit. |
|
Zoe decided that Pod was sort of comfy.... | ..as well as Puffin's blanket. Puffin shared quite nicely. |
A week later Zoe came back to play with Puffin again. She brought Lauren
of course, and Lauren brought her best friend Mary. Mary has a cat named
Squeaky, but things were pretty cool coming to visit Puffin 'cause that meant
a puppy per person.

| This is Mary with Lauren and Zoe | What's better than one puppy? Why two, of course! | Puffin and Zoe had a good time examining all parts of each other's anatomy. | Little puppies tend to conk out though, and Zoe decided it was time to snuggle into Mary for a nap. |
