TemariKai Temari-a-Month Calendar 2010: The Photo Call Winners

The tradition continues with the Temarikai Photo Contest Calendar, and the 2010 Temari-a-Month Photo Calendar from Temarikai.com is ready and shipping via Cafe Press. The photo call was open to all TemariKai.com web readers through the fall of 2009, closing the end of October, and 12 photos were selected to be in the 2010 calendar. The final images were selected based on the temari interest, variation, photo composition and in meeting print demands.  Deep thanks to all that submitted photos for consideration (each year it gets more difficult to choose - the folks helping to select photos are being worked harder and harder each year!), and congrats to those who made it into this year's edition (see info below on getting ready for next year).

Congratulations go to the following crafters who were selected for the 2010 edition (in no particular order): Evelyn Hargis, Tiny Govers, Joan Zakas, Meagan Christie, Diane Roberts, Susan Cameron, Lynn Heinrichs, Vicki Gladstone, Karin Karlsson, Gloria Adamonis, and members of the TalkTemari Yahoo group. TalkTemari marked the 10th year anniversary with the 50th round of the Great International Temari Swap this summer, with the theme for the round being the Japanese Festival of Tanabata (Star Festival).  Countries represented in this year's calendar include United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Sweden and Canada in addition to the USA.

If your photo is being used in the calendar (other than in the Tanabata/August page) please remember that you are entitled to one calendar at base cost plus shipping from Cafe Press - please get in touch with me if you would like to arrange that purchase. TemariKai.com and PuffinStuff Inc. will also carry on the tradition established over the last years of donating 30% of the net proceeds of each calendar sale to the Sarah's Book Project, which supports cancer research and patient care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Massachusetts USA.  Again, my deep thanks to all who made the project possible again this year. Since the start, each year sees more and more submissions....  and that is a wonderful thing to see for what it represents for Temari. We have cleared over $2000.00 that has been raised for Dana Farber - on behalf of all of us that knew and loved Sarah Robinson, thank you very much.

Both calendar styles are again available  - the traditional, page a month wall calendar (high quality calendars printed on glossy 100 lb text weight paper in full bleed dynamic color. They measure 8.5" x 11" when folded, and 11" x 17" when hanging on your wall) as well as an AtaGlance print calendar - (high quality, one-page wall calendars, printed on glossy, 12 point paper and measure 11" x 17" overall). The upper portion carries a montage of all the selected photos and the bottom a full-year calendar.  They make great gifts, and also a super way to introduce others to the craft of Temari. With the holidays just around the corner you can share your love of Temari in a special, unique way -

We've done our best to keep pricing in check to make them available to as many as possible - so the 2010 TemariKai Wall calendar is available for purchase for $18.00 (which includes the Dana Farber donation), and the 2010 TemariKai AtaGlance Calendar print is available for $7.50 (again that includes the Dana Farber Donation) plus s/h from the The Temari Shop  on Cafe Press. Cafe Press accepts major credit card orders as well as checks, online or by phone (to order by phone call toll free 877-809-1659 and request product number 416524022 for the Wall Calendar, or product number 416524023 for the ataglance print).

Remember we'll be looking for high-quality, showcased temari (take special care in choosing the background, which should be uncluttered and show off your temari - (see this year's edition for examples) photos, of at least 200 pixel resolution and 81/2 x 11 inches finished size.
